STUDENT COMPETITION

Défi cecobois – WCTE 2014

The Défi cecobois (cecobois Challenge) is a student competition. The objective is to design and build a scaled wooden structure in two days, only using material and tools provided by the organizing committee. The WCTE 2014 special edition of the Défi cecobois is open to all the students registered at the WCTE 2014 or at the 68th FPS International convention. The event will take place August 9-10, 2014, in the Quebec City Convention Centre.

To participate in the competition, each student must register individually. All participants will be assigned to multidisciplinary teams of 4-5 students by the organizing committee. Places are limited and registration closes on April 30, 2014. Material and tools for the competition, T-shirts, and lunches and breaks (Saturday and Sunday) will be provided. Participation fee is $ 20 (no refund if cancelled after July 1, 2014).

A preliminary meeting will be held Friday evening (August 8) to allow the participants to meet their team and discover the specific objective of the challenge. The team will design and build the structures on Saturday and Sunday (August 9-10). The structures will be tested on Sunday evening. Following an evaluation of the structures by a jury, the winners will be announced during the conference. The structures will be exhibited in the Convention Centre, during the WCTE 2014 Conference.
